Disaster Planning

All types of disasters (natural, technological, and terrorist) affect many lives every year. These disasters have long-lasting effects, both to people and property.

Avian and Pandemic Flu

The question regarding a pandemic flu is not if it will happen, but when if will occur. In this section learn about avian flu and pandemic flu, their connection, and the difference between the two types of influenza.

Seasonal Flu

Seasonal (or common) flu is a respiratory illness that can be transmitted person to person. Most people have some immunity, and a vaccine is available. Influenza vaccination is the primary method for preventing influenza and its severe complications.

West Nile Virus (WNV)

WNV is an illness that is spread by infected mosquitoes that may cause flu-like symptoms and is not spread from person to person. It first appeared In the U.S. in New York during 1999.
